Gryphon Shield

The shield that I have been working on for the SCA (medieval group) has nearly been completed! Made from a road sign originally, it actually still has the "stop ahead" design visible on the back! I cut the shape out, bent the border steel to fit, welded it into a frame, drilled a bunch of holes, and riveted the frame to the road sign. it has about a 5 degree bend, so as to add strength. Then, I riveted the handgrip, and strap onto the back, painted it all blue/black, projected the design, hand painted it, masked all but the border, and turned it silver! Next step is about 5 layers of protective laquer, and I will be ready to take to the battle feild!
